Using #flowers inventively in #mumbai

This is not my flower shop in Mumbai, though I would love it to be mine :)
This is a super decor idea for a designer clothes shop. The shades of soothing colours of the flowers adds a unique ambiance to the shoppers mind-frame. A shopper needs to be psychologically induced into shopping for luxury goods, and clothes. What better way than to use shades of flowers and lull the shopper into an easy frame of mind.

My website www.spring-blossoms.com gives you many new ideas when you want to send flower to Mumbai. Not just another bunch of flowers... contact me for personal consultation. laxmi@spring-blossoms.com

Inspiration from Armani for #flower delivery in Mumbai

I took my inspiration from here Armani Fiori for the flower ball delivery in Mumbai.
After all, in Mumbai the florist has to take into account the pull and push of public transport while delivering delicate flowers in Mumbai. Florist delivering in Mumbai has to even remember that the containers have to be freely available for online flower deliveries.

So we took a basket and literally a leaf out of Armani's design and made a beautiful adaptation for a unique flower delivery in Mumbai.

An artists impression of a #rose

Just sitting around, sketching and painting, a creative mind can come up with endless ideas.
The inherent beauty of flowers and roses can work wonders with an artists impression.

Rice with edible #flowers using marigold petals #mumbai

An interesting flavor with edible flower petals. I tried it with marigold petals for another really nice look and tangy flavor. You can make long grain rice, and spice it with garlic and basil or garlic and curry leaves, even dill adds an interesting twist . Then sprinkle edible chrysanthemum petals, or edible marigold petal on hot rice.
Infuse edible flower petals when the rice is still hot, just off the stove after it is fully cooked.. Do not cook the petals.

Biscuits Roses de Reims and Rose Yogurt

Enjoy Biscuits Roses de Reims and Rose Yogurt from France.
These are dry biscuits so do soak them in some French Champagne and accompany with Rose Yogurt.
Biscuits Roses de Reims

INGREDIENTS

230 gr. flour

120 gr. corn flour (cornstarch)

5 eggs

310 gr. sugar

1 tsp. yeast

1/4 tsp Pure Rose Essence

Pink or red dye

Icing sugar

In a bowl of electric mixer put eggs, coloring and sugar and beat until doubled in volume (must be a very spongy mass).

Take the Rose essence and add it to the dough. Sift flour and baking powder and incorporate into mixture.

Greased mold (of biscuits) and add the dough, but not to the edge, then sprinkle with icing sugar whole surface (be generous at this point, because that will create a crust of their own on these biscuits).

Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes then into the oven, preheated to 180 degrees for about 25 minutes.

Let stand about 5 minutes into the mold, then take it out and let cool on a rack.

The finish of sugar biscuits is not uniform, trick to make it smooth, is to smoothen the top with a spoon to remove excess sugar.

 Rose Yogurt

INGREDIENTS

900 ml. milk

100 ml. of cream

1 plain yogurt (good quality)

40 gr. milk powder

90 gr. biscuits roses de reims

140 gr. sugar (optional)

Start crushing the biscuits to a smooth powder.

In a bowl or in a electric mixer, put in yogurt with powdered milk and mix, then add the cream and continue to  mix, while adding the powder of biscuits and sugar into the mixture, finally add the milk gradually until a smooth uniform is formed.

Pour the preparation in yogurt cups and leave to set, ideally leave overnight.

After that  refrigerate the yogurt at least 3 hours before serving.

Flowers in her hair

The quintessential Indian woman has always believed in adorning her hair with flowers.

Here's what a friend told me;
"I have to admit before moving to India I didn't know about this. I asked another expat friend, "what does it signify?" He wasn't sure if it signified anything at all. "They just wear it for the scent and look of it," he told me.

Whenever I would see the girls walking around with the flowers in their hair, The Cowsills would pop into my head, and I'd be humming the tune all day.

One day, my friend came home and surprised me with flowers of my own.

In recent months, in India and Mumbai  prominent celebrities have been using flowers as hair accessories and to great advantage. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan set the trend this season in her song Udi from Guzaarish, where she wore a single, large red rose in her hair making her look drop-dead gorgeous.
What Ash does others automatically ape.

Now everyone from the high-society ladies, to the teenaged college-going girls are sporting large flowers or a feather cluster in their hair; making them the cynosure of all eyes at fashion events and social dos.
And me the florist, Laxmi Lobo loves it .
Flowers always look beautiful and the fragrance they give off, always puts ones senses into a ethereal space.

LAVENDER IN PROVENCE

The colour, the texture, and the scent of a lavender field encapsulate for many the essence of Provence.

The lavender in the Luberon blooms from around the last week of June to the beginning of August when it is harvested. It is usually at its peak in early July, but this depends on the rainfall in the year.

Lavender is said to heal insect bites and burns as well as repel insects. It can soothe headaches if you apply it to the temples and it helps you sleep if you have the flowers by your pillow. Dried lavender is used to repel moths in clothes closets. Lavender oil is also said to cure acne. The essential oil has antiseptic properties, it was used in hospitals in the 1st world war to disinfect wards. And of course it’s quite nice in the bath, for aromatherapy, and can be found in household products like room fresheners.

I love Lavender and the fragrance of dried lavender springs can be used to enhance the fragrance of a fresh flowers bouquet. In a hot humid month of June in my city Mumbai, a florist knows the tricks to deliver fresh flower bouquet to your house.

Chocolate Flowers

The Chocolate Cosmos is a very rare flower.
It is a flower native to Mexico that has been extinct in the wild for over 100 years.
Still, the species survives as a single, non-fertile clone created in 1902 by propagation.
The flowers are a rich deep-brown color and grow to about 3-4 cm in diameter.
As the name suggests, Chocolate Cosmos emit a delicious vanillin fragrance in the summer (also found in vanilla beans, some coffee beans and some cocoa beans).  Yum, slurrp....

Chocolate Orchids, are a wonder of nature.
When you smell these orchids, you'll be hit by a wonderful chocolate scent floating up from dozens of tiny blossoms.
"Sharry Baby" the oncidium orchid is spectacular in its festive splashes of chocolate and white. The flowers appear to be soft and delicate, but the petals actually have a firm, almost leathery feel to them.
Flowers of these species are one of the sweetest fragrances you can smell.
The Sharry Baby is also  one of the easiest orchids to grow.
Its spiky stems can reach up to 3 feet in height with multiple (up to a hundred) purple-red mini blooms. Its velvety long green leaves are the perfect frame to showcase its amazing sweet-scented flowers.
Just like chocolate, they can be very addictive....

Flowers on a cake

The fondant flowers on this cake look so attractive.
They are artistically created roses, but are like a cross between a rose and a dahlia.
This is what I find so creative, any shape made to look like a flower spurs the creativity and looks attractive.
Nature has made flowers so beautiful and we reflect this beauty in various forms of decorations.

Up side down Flowers

I noticed this fun play with flowers while browsing my favorite topic...you guessed it..."flowers" on Google.
Such a simple look but catches your attention. This would make a great table display and various colour contrasts can be used.
You can also try this with coloured glasses and white flowers inside.

Flowers are the easiet art to create, anything looks beautiful because inherently the flowers are beautiful themseleves, the florist has to just add a simple touch, a creative imagination and you always create a stunning display.

Zundert is a city in Netherlands which hosts since 1936 a Flower Parade which is held every year on the first Sunday in September.
On this occasion, a parade of floats and sculptures flowers of all colors is organized, allowing artists to create beautiful towering sculptures.

I wish India was evolved enough to have such massive yet artistic structures of Flowers, laments a florist in Mumbai, India.
We do massive elaborate and fabulous wedding decorations with flowers in India but to have state sponsored events like the one above is yet a long way off, says Laxmi Lobo.

The Nelson Mandela Orchid

Orchids are very often named after famous people.
This is a tradition that started in the 1940 s in the United States.
It is a trend now to honor VIP s by naming a hybrid orchid after them.
In fact Singapore Botanic Gardens has a " VIP Orchid Garden"
For more celebrity orchids read here..
